Calloway County Busted Mugshot Records
A mugshot gets taken when someone is booked into the Calloway County Jail. It is an identification photo, nothing more. Several agencies make arrests here, including Murray Police, the Calloway County Sheriff's Department, Kentucky State Police, and Murray State University Police. Whoever makes the arrest, the jail builds the custody file if the person stays local. Kentucky also splits the top jobs. Jailer Kenneth Claud runs the jail and names its records custodian, while Sheriff Nicky J. Knight investigates crime, serves warrants, and makes arrests. A sheriff release can show which agency acted. It cannot replace the jail roster for who is in custody right now. That distinction matters, since some secondary pages label every local busted record a sheriff record.
Calloway County Booking Record Fields
The Calloway County jailer's retention schedule spells out what the Jail Register and Inmate Record File may hold. Those two systems sit behind any booking record you request. JailTracker, the county's lookup tool, shows some of it on its public screen. Secondary sites often use similar labels. Treat them as leads, not gospel. Only the jail or the court can confirm what a record actually says.
- Identity and admission
- Full name, aliases when maintained, booking or admission date, and an inmate or booking identifier.
- Agency and charge
- The committing or arresting agency, offense label, charge as booked, and statute when recorded.
- Release terms
- Bond amount or type, court information, discharge date, release order, and days in jail where maintained.
- Booking photograph
- A photo may be held in the L2751 Inmate Record File even when no public web photo is visible.
- Court outcome
- A disposition may appear in the file, but the Circuit Clerk's record controls the final result.
These fields answer different questions. A booking date is not the offense date. Bond is a release condition, not a sentence. A discharge date shows that custody ended, not that the charge ended. Physical descriptors may help separate similar names, yet no one should be identified by a face alone. Juvenile information, medical material, victim details, sealed records, and security-sensitive data may be withheld or redacted.
What does booking mean? Booking is the jail intake process after an arrest or lawful commitment. Staff record identity and custody facts, may take a photograph, inventory property, and connect the person to a charge or court order.
Request Calloway County Booking Records
The official Calloway County Jail records page names Major Thomas Marshall as records custodian. It directs written requests to Tmarshallcallowayjail@murray-ky.net and requires the requester's mailing address. The notice permits inspection from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday except holidays. It says the custodian will give an availability notice or written reason for nonavailability within three working days. That is not a promise that a complex file will be produced then.
- Give the full name, known alias, and approximate admission date.
- Name the arresting agency and booking number if known.
- Ask for the exact item: Jail Register entry, booking sheet, bond record, or booking photograph.
- Choose inspection or an electronic copy, include a mailing address, and request a fee estimate.
- Ask for the statute behind a redaction or denial, then use the court clerk for disposition.
The posted rate is ten cents per page for written copies. A photo, map, or computer file is charged at actual production cost by the most economical process that will not harm the record. Confirm the current rate first. The jail is at 310 North 4th Street, Murray, KY 42071, and its main phone is 270-753-6150.
For a Murray Police arrest report, use 270-762-0313 or mpd_orr@murrayky.gov. Murray Police may hold the incident report while the jail holds the booking and custody file. One request does not reach both systems.
Note: The fee, hours, custodian, and response language came from the jail's posted notice and should be confirmed before a request.
Kentucky Busted Mugshot Law
Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs access to nonexempt state and local records. KRS 61.870 defines a booking photograph as an identification image generated by law enforcement during booking, or an official inmate photograph under the cited corrections law. Access can still be limited by another statute or valid exception.
KRS 61.8746 bars commercial use of a public-agency booking or inmate photo when a publication requires money or other consideration to remove it. The rule took effect July 15, 2016. It is separate from expungement. Do not pay a publisher to remove a Kentucky booking photograph. Use court and agency correction routes, and seek legal advice when needed.
The Kentucky Court of Justice expungement process currently lists a $40 certification and filing through the Circuit Court Clerk. Different rules govern acquittals, dismissals, misdemeanors, and qualifying felonies. An order can reach the arresting agency and jail, but it does not ensure that each news story, cached image, or secondary copy vanishes.
Three publishers found in the Calloway landscape state that they offer free, document-based updates. Busted Newspaper accepts a page URL and legal proof for listed favorable outcomes and says review can take five to ten days. RecentlyBooked says qualifying correction, suppression, and removal are free. Mugshots.com states that record maintenance is free and may take up to ten business days. These are publisher policies, not court promises. No clear county-page free process was found for Arrests.org, and no Calloway section was found on Mugshots Zone.
Old Calloway County Booking Photos
How far back do Calloway County booking photos go? Not far. Kentucky's retention schedule is the reason. The Jail Register, Series L2674, may be destroyed five years after an inmate's release. The Inmate Record File, Series L2751, can hold photographs and runs on the same five-year clock. Daily logs and special reports fall under short terms too. Non-evidentiary booking recordings can go in as little as 30 days, unless a hold, lawsuit, or evidence need keeps them alive.
The schedule names no standing Calloway mugshot archive. Nor does it promise that jail photos migrate to the state archives. So start local. Ask the jail custodian whether the register or the L2751 file still exists and whether a photo was ever kept. For what happened to the case, the Circuit Clerk holds the court outcome. The Kentucky Judicial Indexes can assist with older matters, though it is spotty and tends to organize criminal entries by indictment date.
One wrinkle remains. Kentucky State Police keeps its own Mug Shot File on a 20-year schedule, but that state rule never stretches a county jail's shorter retention. A photo floating around online can easily outlive the official county copy. When the county's version is gone, that loss says nothing about whether some secondary copy is accurate.
Find Calloway County Busted Mugshots
Match the tool to the question. Is the person locked up right now? Check the live jail roster. Need a booking file or photo? That goes through the records custodian. The fate of a charge lives in the court records. KOOL tracks people in state custody or under supervision, while federal and immigration locators handle entirely different situations.
- Open the official Current Inmates route and complete the vendor CAPTCHA normally.
- Request the jail booking file if the portal fails, the person was released, or photo status is unclear.
- Check Murray Police records when that agency made the arrest, or confirm Hazel's agency with the city.
- Use the court page, docket, and Circuit Clerk for filings, hearings, amendments, and disposition.
- Check KOOL for state custody, VINE for eligible alerts, and BOP or ICE only for the matching system.
- Use news and secondary feeds last, with the page date and a stale-data warning.
A wanted listing is not a custody record. The Calloway County Sheriff's public Most Wanted page and its warrant contacts speak to wanted status only. Jail status is a different question. An empty public list does not mean warrants are absent. For anything live, the Sheriff's Warrant and EPO unit is the operational contact.
Calloway County Mugshot Search Channels
Every source answers a different question. Each covers a different stretch of time too. Go to official sources first, since they control the actual record or custody status. Secondary pages can help you pin down a date, but they copy errors and miss releases. Some leave a page up long after a person has walked free.
| Channel | Photo status | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Calloway JailTracker | Not verified before CAPTCHA | Official current custody |
| Jail records custodian | Specific image by request | Official booking file if releasable |
| Calloway court | Not a photo source | Filing, hearing, disposition |
| Kentucky KOOL | Most state offenders | State custody or supervision |
| Murray Scanner | Says no mugshots | Unofficial current text |
| RecentlyBooked | Says county supplies none | Unofficial 30-day window |
| Busted Newspaper, Arrests.org, Mugshots.com | Photo-bearing pages | Unofficial, possibly stale copies |
| Mugshots Zone | No Calloway section found | Directory absence check only |
Local outlets pick and choose what they cover. The Murray Sentinel, Murray Ledger & Times, Murray State News, West Kentucky Star, WNKY, and KFVS all report selected incidents. Their images might be agency files, news photos, scene shots, or court screenshots. So be careful with labels. Call one a jail mugshot only when the source itself does.
Calloway County Busted Jail Roster
The official route runs in a chain: the county page, then the jail website, then its Current Inmates page, and finally the JailTracker portal. Visitors hit a gate before any roster search appears. The portal asks for a case-sensitive CAPTCHA of at least four characters, so have that ready. Complete the challenge normally and search from there. If a name shows up, note the time you checked and describe the listing simply as current custody at that moment.
| Detail | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Exact spelling and aliases | Shared names need more proof |
| Booking date | Compare with jail and court | Not the offense date |
| Agency | Separate police, sheriff, KSP, MSU | Does not prove custody |
| Bond or charge | Copy wording and date | Not a conviction |
| Photo | Ask the custodian | Third-party display is not policy |
The county contact directory shows the separate jailer and sheriff contacts:

One capture, two doors. Custody questions belong to the jailer; warrant questions belong to the sheriff. The offices stay separate, and so do the answers.
Note: No official Calloway booking app was verified; JailTracker is browser based, and app-store claims need an agency link.
Recent Calloway County Busted Bookings
Calloway County exposes no verified 24-hour or 30-day booking archive through the open roster screen. JailTracker is the official same-day route, but it shows current custody rather than history. The unofficial side works differently. Murray Scanner runs a text roster that refreshes through the day, lists charge, bond, booking date, and court information when available, and drops people after release. Murray Scanner's current-arrests page spells out that current-only view.

A dated screenshot proves the trap: a text feed can pin down a recent date yet still need jail confirmation to settle custody.
Other aggregators work differently. RecentlyBooked offers a rolling 30-day window that refreshes several times daily. Arrests.org opens date, month, and year paths. Busted Newspaper and Mugshots.com host persistent pages with no reliable test of who is still in custody. No weekend surge was ever established, so do not assume one.
How recent is recent? It depends on the source. JailTracker means the live result at the moment you check. Murray Scanner means still listed in custody. RecentlyBooked means its stated 30-day window. Label every source and date you use.
Verify Calloway County Booking Feeds
Read any feed entry alongside its time window and custody label. First, compare the name and booking date against the live jail route. Then check the stated charge and bond against the court docket or clerk. If someone vanishes from a current-only feed, ask what explains it: release, transfer, or a routine refresh. A missing name does not erase the jail register. Nor does it resolve the court case.
Agency labels need the same care. "Murray" might mean the city, a mailing address, Murray State, or a place named in a news story. A Calloway County booking can come from Murray Police, the Sheriff, KSP, MSU Police, or another agency, so record the agency exactly as stated. When two pages clash, the jail controls local custody, the arresting agency controls its report, and the clerk controls the filed case.
Old pages demand one extra step. A photo or charge copied years ago can survive long after the county was allowed to destroy the file behind it. Save the exact URL and capture date, then ask the jail whether its record still exists. If the real question is guilt, dismissal, or amendment, skip the old booking page and go straight to the court outcome.
Calloway County Custody Record Paths
Custody records shift as a case moves. A person booked in Calloway County can later land in a state or federal system while the original booking entry still sits online. So match the source to the question you're asking. That habit keeps a release from looking like a dismissal, and it stops a Department of Corrections listing from reading as a brand-new Calloway arrest.
| Status | Best source | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Held locally | JailTracker and jail | Current custody when shown |
| Released | Jail file and court | Past booking and case status |
| State prison or supervision | Kentucky KOOL | DOC status |
| Federal custody | BOP or federal court | Federal status |
| Immigration detention | ICE locator | Eligible ICE custody |
| Final charge outcome | Circuit Clerk | Official disposition |
Kentucky's Offender Online Lookup is flexible. You can search by name, alias, DOC number, PID number, status, location, county, age, offense category, or dates. A photos-only mode exists too. DOC cautions that most photos appear in the system, not all. A photo can take days to post. It might also be swapped out later.
Federal questions point elsewhere. The BOP locator holds federal inmates from 1982 on, though it offers no county photo gallery. ICE's detainee search demands exact identity fields and leaves minors out. The Marshals Service rarely releases photos of federal prisoners. So for a Calloway booking photo, none of these federal tools replaces a direct request to the jail.
After Calloway County Busted Bookings
A busted booking in Calloway County is only the opening step. Booking comes first. A bond review may follow. From there, the court file carries the story forward. At an arraignment, the early hearing, the charge gets addressed. The recorded outcome, called the disposition, may come only after the charge is amended, dropped, sent to a grand jury, resolved by plea, tried, or left pending for a time.
Court records live with the clerk. The official Calloway court page sends records questions to the Circuit Clerk. District Court answers at 270-753-0060. Circuit Court is 270-753-2773, and the clerk's general line is 270-753-2714. Visit the courthouse at 312 North 4th Street in Murray. The online docket helps locate hearings but carries a warning that it isn't official and can change.
Try the Kentucky docket search:

Treat that screen as a search aid only. The clerk's file is where a final outcome lives.
Calloway County Arrest Alerts
There's no verified Calloway County app for booking lists or mugshots. For custody and release alerts, Kentucky VINE is the official route where it applies. It sends status notifications but won't supply photos, a full roster, or court results. The published number is 1-800-511-1670.
The county uses Hyper-Reach for weather and emergency notices. The sheriff posts through Facebook, and Murray Police plus Murray State Police run their own channels. None of them follows a verified daily photo schedule. Social media posts can vanish or change, so confirm the core fact with the jail, the agency, or the court.
Note: VINE tracks eligible custody events, while Hyper-Reach and social pages serve broader alerts rather than booking searches.
Busted Mugshots Across Calloway County
Two incorporated cities make up Calloway County. Murray, the county seat, keeps its own police records contact and hosts Murray State University Police activity as well. Someone arrested there typically enters the county jail system, though the city agency may hold the arrest report itself. The Murray Busted Mugshots page walks through that split.
Hazel is smaller and more closed. Its state profile names a Police Chief but shows no city arrest roster, photo policy, blotter, or records email. When a Hazel arrest lands in the jail, JailTracker and the jail custodian are the ways to trace custody. See the Hazel Busted Mugshots page for help confirming which agency made the arrest.
Other names like New Concord, Lynn Grove, Kirksey, Almo, and Dexter can surface in county feeds. None are incorporated cities, though. A place label alone never tells you which agency handled the bust.
